North Creek Crossings – Phase 2
Community Impact
Beyond providing housing, the project strengthens the social fabric of Chico by supporting economic diversity, reducing
housing insecurity, and fostering long-term community resilience. It represents the ongoing commitment of AHDC, the
City of Chico, and the Housing Authority to invest in the well-being of local residents and build a more inclusive, vibrant
future for the region.
Environmental Impact
With sustainability at its core, North Creek Crossings II is designed to lower environmental impact and support healthier,
more livable communities. By encouraging walking and biking over car use, the development helps cut greenhouse gas
emissions and supports healthier lifestyles. With secure bicycle parking and convenient connections to bike paths, the
community supports low-impact commuting and outdoor activity. The community’s walkable location near retail,
restaurants, and Bidwell Park reduces dependence on vehicles while supporting everyday convenience and leisure.
Economic Impact
North Creek Crossings is a significant public-private investment that bolsters Chico’s economic resilience through long-
term affordable housing. Partially financed by 2020 Disaster Recovery Tax Credits under the Further Consolidated
Appropriations Act—targeting wildfire-impacted regions—the project brought essential federal funding into Butte County
to aid in economic recovery. By expanding access to stable, income-restricted housing, the development supports
workforce retention, strengthens regional competitiveness, and serves as a catalyst for broader community revitalization.
