Oak Park
Community Impact
We redefined a 150-unit underutilized, substandard, residential neighborhood to a thriving 301-unit community that includes a brand-new community facility, community amenities including tot lots, a sport court, community gathering areas, and specialized and unique resident services (YouthWorks) that engage the community in and around the neighborhood.
Environmental Impact
We transformed a blighted, 1940s former military housing complex turned public housing with uninhabitable conditions, failing units and infrastructure that was unable to keep up with capital needs into an energy-efficient and sustainable neighborhood. Some of the measures incorporated included energy efficiency by outperforming Title 24 requirements, use of renewable energy with the photovoltaic system, high-efficacy lighting, water-efficient fixtures, and resource-efficient landscaping with a high-efficiency irrigation system. Oak Park was designed and built to incorporate all of the City’s design requirements and not only meet the needs but exceed the expectations of the families who live there. It has become a new fixture of Paso Robles and a redevelopment the entire community is proud to be a part of.
Economic Impact
High quality affordable housing in a coastal community where rents are unattainable for typical wage earners. Created in partnership with Paso Robles Housing Authority and the City of Paso Robles, we have produced a mixed income community that serves families and seniors ranging from extremely low to low incomes as well as individuals with VASH and Project Based Vouchers (PBV).
